I had so much fun today with Michelle. I think if I would have asked to hang bankwards off a tree she would have done it. Some of you may recognize her, she is the friendliest waitress at the Dove’s Nest. She may also be the most photogenic. She is one of the first people I have ever photographed that looked print ready right out of the camera.

Michelle, thanks for being a trooper and happily complying with all of my odd requests. You are truly a beauty inside and out!

{Baby Amaryl}

I’m getting ready to go photograph a bridal session (the bride is actually getting ready in the studio right now) and I wanted to get this preview up. After the long haul of holiday family portraits it was refreshing to photograph a newborn once again. The first time I hold any newborn I just melt into them. I love everything about them. The way the feel, the way they smell, how tiny they are, their little mini personalities. I do believe you see a sparkle, a tiny glimpse of who they are going to be even as newborns. I think Amaryl is going to be a dancer. So graceful and lean and only 14 days old.

Here she is. Baby Amaryl - so beautiful and sweet just like the flower she was named after!

{Inspired}

Isn’t it funny how every year we do this to ourselves. Something about January makes us inspired to change. I along with the rest of the US want to lose weight, pay off debt, spend more time with my family ands the list goes on.

Today I came back to the studio for the first time in over a week and I sat at my computer and felt it. The need to change it all. I am an ambitous person and when you take inventory of my 2009 goals you will definitely think I am one inspired person.

I photographed baby Grant today and as a last minute request I photographed him with his mom. There are two pictures I love for everyone to have at 6 month. The last naked baby bootie shot (I can’t tell you why I love it so, but I do) and mom kissing the baby. It just makes me smile and gives me that warm fuzzy feeling!

{Christmas Week}

I will be out of the studio the week of Christmas to spend time with family and friends. I wish I could say that I will be taking a break, but the truth is this is a real passion and even when I am away from the studio the wheels are always turning.

There is lots of brainstorming going on for things to come in 2009. 2008 was an overwhelming success and it was thanks to all of you. I have hit my third year projections in my first full year open - WOW!!! Needless to say I wasn’t prepared for the response I received this year. I am proud of the business. I feel lucky to have made so many new friends because of Marie Q Photography. And when times were rough, when I made mistakes, when I ran behind, when I got sick, and the three times I became the human question mark this year, everyone was understanding and supportive. So many of you offered to help me and I can not find the words to express my gratitude. A special big thank you to Christi who went above and beyond the call of duty to help me. You are my angel! Thank you, thank you, thank you.

The blog is quite a story in itself. Even when I wasn’t posting everyday - I still had 200 visitors a day. An old friend of mine said he liked the blog and that the blog was good on its own…. but if you really knew me you LOVED the blog. This is really me, these are my own words, this is what I love. Thanks for stopping by.

{Dear Santa}

Dear Santa,

Please read carefully. I would like to have THREE MACS for Christmas. One for my studio, one laptop, and one so I can work from home. These three computers must have all new software because my PC software just isn’t compatible. I have figured this is a $8,000+ request and so I have marked off my $1900 canon lens to try and save you some money (though if you have it laying around I want the canon 85 1.2L lens - it will create unbelievable photos on my new MAC!)

I know you are busy trying to accomplish world peace and feeding the huingry and such- but it would be a huge help if you just went ahead and set them up for me and installed my software.

Thanks Santa - you are the best!!

Oh.. and one last edit…… I think I speak for the people of Waxahachie and Ellis County, Having an Apple genius in our growing community would be wonderful! Traveling to North Park to see the genius is a bit out of our way.

{The best party ever}

Back in early November we had a birthday party for my daughter at a local pizza place here in town. We invited her school and soccer friends and next thing you know… 65+ people are having pizza with us.

Major was one of the boys invited from my daughters class. It was the first time I had met him and I will forever have an impression burned in my head. He was wearing his blue soccer uniform. He had that black football paint under his eyes (you know he means business). I was standing with my husband a little dazed and confused when Major walked up to us and with his big blue eyes said, “This is the best party EVER”.

I asked why, and he said “free quarters!” It was like he had won the lottery. My husbad stood there for about an hour and just passed out quarters to all the kids. It was an exciting day for everyone.

Later, he and his family came for their family photo session - and though I wished I could have photographed the boy with big blue eyes, excited with the thought of endless quarters…. this Major was a close second.

{Brrrrrrrrrr.. it’s cold}

How is this for some crazy weather?? I spent a day at the house catching up on a bunch of work. When I came across my last senior session, Rolando, a senior from Waxahachie I remembered what the weather was like just a few days ago. You may know him, his family has a business in Waxahachie - Roland’s Nursery.

Last Friday it was a warm and a beautiful day for walking around downtown. I have been so lucky that all of my high school seniors have been great to work with. I always tell the boys to smile for their moms. Rolando shared with me that his mom said to him to remember to smile. There is not a single doubt that every senior boy has done a session for their mom.

You know it’s bad when my own husband is giving me a guilt trip about the blog. “I go there everyday hoping to see and read something new”. I live with this man, I think we communicate through our eyes and he reads the blog??

I just survived the busiest three weeks of the studio ever. Next week, I’ll be in the studio cleaning, organizing, backing up etc. The following week I will be in El Paso spending the holidays with my husband’s family. We haven’t seen them in two years and all of us are looking forward to seeing everyone.

So today I thought I would share a little newborn photography of Baby Luke who came to me earlier in the week. He was a little older than I like, but he was soooo good. He slept right through the entire session and let me do whatever I wanted.

I’ve missed typing it.

You know you are chronically behind when your computer pops up a message saying you are 45 minutes late for your Thanksgiving Break.

The studio will be closed until Tuesday, December 2nd. All messages will be returned then.

Stop by the blog during the break for all of my past updates that I have not published. I have photographed some cute ones this past week!!
