For the third year in a row, we are offering Fall sessions at a unique location that include a pack a custom designed Christmas Cards.  We announced the location of our fall sessions last week in our monthly newsletter.  So many kind individuals offered their homes, land and businesses to use as a potential locations for these sessions.  I am so very grateful to have opportunities to photograph at some of the most beautiful locations in Ellis and Dallas County. A heartfelt Thank You to Delinda at Winding Ridge and all of you who offered your favorite locations.

This year we will be photographing at Winding Ridge Bed and Breakfast.  A beautiful home appointed on even more beautiful land.  You can see more photos and find more info on this bed and breakfast on Trip Advisor. We have found that these sessions make the family portrait sessions as painless as possible.  This opportunity will not only allow you to get your Christmas Cards but also update your family portrait. During this time we also photograph the children individually and together and photograph each parent with their children.  Also, since this event is outside, you are welcomed to bring your four legged friend to be included in some of your family photos if you wish.

With the announcement in the newsletter last week, most of the Sunday appointments have been booked, but we still have room for sessions on Saturday.  Contact us at the studio to reserve your spot in our most popular sessions of the year, 972-937-9511. The session fee is $109 + tax and includes one pack of 5×7 flat Christmas Cards.

A couple of things I need to remember next year when we do this again……First, the kids are getting older and they are not as agreeable as they used to be. Second, public humiliation is no longer an option.  And finally, when I say kids, I mean my daughter. We are in that very special tween age. She is very vain, very self conscious, and very smart because she knows better than anyone else what is going to work best for photos.

I am excited to introduce our first “As seen on Pinterest” mini session, the vintage back to school session. We had so much fun photographing our Tyler and Annika, our little Marie Q Models, last night.  The sessions will be held on Friday and Saturday evening, September 14th and 15th with sessions starting at 6:00.  We think children pre-school aged to 12 years old would be most appropriate for this photo shoot. The session fee is $75 + tax and comes with 2 5×7′s, 8 wallets, and one web sized digital images so you can share your “Pinterest” photo. Call the studio at 972-937-9511 to schedule your session as soon as possible!

Last night, I was directing the girls to “touch foreheads”.  As you can see from the image below, we had to demonstrate how to touch foreheads.

We are always open to ideas.  If you see or think of something that you would like to see done please let us know.  A quick note though, we don’t duplicate or copy other local photographers.  We like to find inspiration from all over the world.  It’s just bad juju to imitate my colleagues. We are going to have so much fun with these!!

The mommy and me sessions have been so popular.  Don’t forget you can still schedule your mommy and me session for $50 through the end of May.  And you can see from my previews below, this is not only for mothers and young children.  In fact what started this was an image of an adult woman with her mom.  Don’t think for a second that you are too old for photos… NEVER!!

We also saw baby Eason for his 6 month session and had some fun with him both inside and outside!

And finally- we are still photographing seniors for the class of 2012.  We know that senior year is a busy one and that time flies by.  Don’t head off too college before having your senior portraits done! Kate brought her boyfriend along for a few photos as well.

I tried everything, sneezing, funny sounds, singing (my poor clients), jumping up and down, tickling…EVERYTHING.  He just wasn’t going to crack today.  His mom played a video on her phone of him giggling.. nothing.  Doesn’t matter, I’m still in LOVE with this picture.  Those cheeks, that mouth, his eyes.

This was the closest we got.  So handsome in his suit!  He already knows how to rock a tie.

If you have ever been to my studio, you may have noticed  I  have three images of my daughter and I framed on my wall in the viewing room. I treasure those photos.  I never get tired of looking at them.  In fact one of those photos is on my iPhone case and I get grief about having a photo of myself on MY phone from my family (meanies).  It doesn’t bother me, it’s not a vanity thing.  I love my daughter so much and that photograph reminds me of it every time I look at it.

Take the time to have photos made with your children.  Don’t make excuses, get in the photo.  I promise… you will hold these close to your heart.

Just know in your heart that the most important thing for me is to be with you. And when my old, tired legs don’t let me move as quickly as before, give me your hand the same way that I offered mine to you when you first walked. When those days come, don’t feel sad… just be with me, and understand me while I get to the end of my life with love. I’ll cherish and thank you for the gift of time and joy we shared.
