So what can I say about Calvin.  I can say he is one of the most “real” people I have ever met. Honest but not abrupt, funny but not demeaning, polite and happy.  He’s very California to be in Red Oak.  In fact, he plans on making a trip out there this summer.  I asked him where he would stay.. he didn’t know, maybe in his car.  Oh, to be young and fearless again!

I have already photographed Salina – this time I got to spend time on just her.  I had done a mini friends session with her friend Malloy about a month ago.  I loved her in that purple dress.  I wanted to post all of her images in that purple dress- but for the sake of variety, I’ll post the very last image from her session.  We walked around all evening smelling hamburgers. I think we were all hungry walking around the square.

This year I decided to add senior mini sessions in an the end of the season.  The demand for session was just so much that I decided I needed to find a way to fit more in.  I might modify it some next year because I find myself running around like a mad person trying to get as many shots as I can in.  Then when I start with my next appointment which is regular, full length mini session I can’t get out of rush mode and I find myself rushing around again.  By the end of the night I’m E-X-H-A-U-S-T-E-D .

I had a good time photographing Ariel.  All of my seniors have been sweet and polite – both the girls and the guys.  At the end of this busy season I feel like I have acquired new children.  I have gotten to know so many of them.  Each one of them has given me a little snapshot of their lives.  I love my seniors!

Last year, I photographed Claire’s sister, Hallie.  She was fun, quirky and playful.  Claire is a bit quieter with sweet eyes and you can tell there is a playful side to her that I maybe didn’t get to see – but it’s there.  She came for her session alone.  In fact, I have had a string of seniors in the past week that have done that.  When that happens I get to learn about the person in a way that I don’t get to when mom is around.  We talked work, prom, college, cars … just normal conversation.

I spent a couple of crazy hours with Malloy, her mom, and Malloy’s friend Salina.  I always talk about getting that golf cart to zip through town in, but sometimes I think I would miss out on all the great conversations we have while we are walking around town.  I really get to know people during that time.  The wind is giving us some grief this week.

That top photograph is from from the very end of Malloy’s Senior session.  She wanted a combo of serious and smiling and that is exactly what she got.  And I had to make sure and get those teeth because she is another one of Dr. Morgan’s patients.  The smile is definitely gorgeous, but without it you really get to tsee the beauty in her eyes.

So I have known of this mysterious teenage boy for a a little over a year now.  My friend down the street is always raving about what a hard worker he is, what a good job he does.  If I hear anything about him, its always positive.  So I was very interested to meet this boy named Chandler.  I have to say he lived up to all they hype.  In my days here at the studio I encounter lots of seniors.  More girls than boys – but I still get my fair share.  I was pleased to learn that Chandler plans to go to the Marines in mid-June.  He is wasting no time to get to work… because that is just who is.  As the daughter of a Marine, I’ve been taught to be impressed by those who serve, to be thankful for the freedom they allow us, and to be grateful for the work they do.
