Sometimes I wish I could add sounds to my images. We all had just come inside the studio after taking some photos outside. I left the front door open to let some fresh air in. I told them my idea and stacked them on top of each other and then the laughter began. The happy sounds resonated in the studio and lingered out the door. Twice I looked towards the door and saw kids walk by and peer in to see what was happening inside.

We all need this kind of laughter in our lives. Wishing a little laughter for all of you!

I asked her what her stuffed animals name was and she answered, “Polyester, its on the tag“ . Even writing it makes me laugh.

We started this session a little on the shy side and by the end of the session I had created a posing machine. It’s always interesting to watch a child become at ease in the studio. We shot this during one of the coldest days of the year. I so badly wanted to take her outside and play and just let her be a little girl. I can’t wait for spring!!

I leave you with one of the last “poses” she gave me before ending the session. I think its a perfect way to say, Be Good!

People often ak me how I get kids to cooperate in pictures. I’ll tell you the secret – its not me…. it’s your kids. These two were like magic kids. I’m not kidding. I could have told them to do headstands and smile natural and they would have pulled it off. I will say what helps sometimes and it is what happened in this case – Mom left the building. That’s right, she trusted me with her kids and left them in my care. And its not the first time this has happened. If you feel that your kids will do better if you are not around then tell me and we can make it happen. I’ve never had bad kids and its amazing how polite and well behaved they are when mom is not around. You would be so surprised. And on the flip side, you know if you have a child that suffers from separation anxiety. They just aren’t ready to be left alone yet. And that is ok too. The best environment for a child is one where there are comfortable. Sometimes that means they get a photo session in their own back yard, and even in their bedroom. You know your children best and working when they are at their best will ensure that you get a great return on your investment.

Be Good!

I have lots of posts coming. By the end of the day, you are going to be sick of me. We are getting things ready for Boo! at Marie Q (read about it here). Seems lately I have been trying to break things. My studio light exploded on Saturday sending out a small mushroom cloud of smoke. It’s on the way to the the studio light hospital. I hope for its speedy recovery.

So here is the preview from the studio light bustin’ session. We had so much fun blasting the music and singing along! Now when I look at these I hear Taylor Swift.

I’m starting to see the light. All of my seniors are graduating this week. Still have orders flooding in for some of you but we are going to make it!!

I’m a little behind on posting some previews, but I’ll split it up over a couple of days.

First, I had a fantastic little newborn last week. We squeezed Baby Savannah in so I could get her extra young. She was so sweet and HUNGRY. Goodness, that girl could eat! She is definitely a growing baby.

I also had the six month old cutie stop by. Loved his stylish ways at the young age of 6 months.

And finally a personal photo because I rarely ever photograph her anymore. My daughter in her “one of a kind” dress that she asked Santa for this past year. Don’t tell her it’s not. One day, she will find out but lets not make it today

Be Good!

**I wrote this on Friday…. obviously a little late in posting it – come back tomorrow to see a preview of the wedding I shot on Saturday!***

It’s always amazing to me that a a newborn, a baby, a two year old, and an eight year old can have so much personality. I had two little people with big personalities.

Rachel came in today to be photographed in her flower girl dress. In front of the mirror she posed and gazed at herself admiring her fancy dress. You could see that she saw herself as a true princess.

Later in the day I photographed one month old Justice and just take a look at all the personality in his little face.

What do you think he’s thinking about?

I love my mommy…. she makes me happy

I wonder what’s for dinner

When I grow up I want to be…….

Be Good!!
