I do not normally photograph on Sundays – especially the morning after a wedding but today I shot two sessions. I am previewing the first one today and the second one on Tuesday. I met up with Megan this morning at 6:30 am. We were able to get some fabulous pictures in the morning light.

How should I describe Megan??? A free spirit, confident, comfortable in her own skin, creative, one of a kind… just to name a few. I had a great time with her.

Megan, if I didn’t say it – thank you for breakfast. it was a treat to sit down and talk to you! plus my cinnamon – pecan pancake was one of the best things I have ever had.

I try not to take her out too often in hopes that she does not get tired of being my trustworthy subject. I had already scouted out a place earlier in the week and took her there to test it out. A couple of problems… we were there too early at 7:30 pm. The other thing SNAKES… and I did see one the day I went to check it out.

She picked her outfit – that was our compromise.

We found a new “distressed” wall. It is for sale so that more than likely means it will receive a fresh coat of paint in the near future. I am going to show a before and after so you can see the work that goes into one image and why I take the time I do to finish editing.

After I cropped, sharpened, softened, touched up her undereyes (she’s tired), evened out her skin on her face (you can tell on her shoulders she is sun burned) and she had dirt on the tip of her nose that I had to cover up.

{Karley – the blog slideshow}

So I decided to post the most talked about senior session I have had to date. There are several reasons this shoot went so well. First of all, Karley is GORGEOUS. I don’t think she can take a bad picture. Second, she knew what she wanted and she communicated it well. Third, I was given complete creative control. Once I knew what she wanted we ran with it. If this blog had smell vision you would turn it off. Some of the places we photographed smelled so bad – I was amazed she hung in there. Then while I was editing, I thought I saw an image with a ton of dust – I later remembered GNATS. Poor thing – she was probably standing in a spot full of gnats. This has been my favorite senior session this year. When you look at the show below – you’ll see why. Just press play in the center.

My favorites from the Duale Session.  I’m a dandelion freak.  If I see one – I’ll definitely incorporate it into the shoot. I always find it interesting to see them in abundance in February though.

Sometimes, the ones I least expect become favorites.  I wasn’t crazy about it about it right out of my camera, but I played a little  – made it vintage and it changed the feel completely. This one was so out of the box – I left it out of the gallery and included it in the slideshow and interestingly…. everyone liked it.  
It’s the motion of the skirt, the bounce of the curls, the bare feet.  It is simply childhood without a face. It could have been any one of us years ago. And it could be any one of our daughters today.
