I’m a bit delayed in posting this preview. My apologies to Mattie’s family. It’s been a bit crazy here at the studio. If you haven’t heard, the ducks are here and we are currently in the midst of Spring/Easter mini sessions. I only have a few spots left for Friday and Saturday so if you are interested call quickly because I don’t think they will be open by the end of the day.

The smiles should say it all!!! Dr. Laura Morgan and her magnificent work are behind these killer smiles! The Hill sisters cracked me up. I had to shove them together and tell them to act like they loved each other. Most of the times I have to do this with young children, but these two cracked up every time they got close to one another.

When I showed these, I heard the comment, “you should have seen the before”. It gives me hope for my daughter. In the third grade and I know Dr. Laura will be seeing her.

My first session after the holidays was a Dr. Morgan “I got my braces off!” session. Two sisters celebrating their great smiles. They shared a story that the last professional picture they had was when the youngest was 6 months old and that the ob/gyn had gifted the session to their parents. I guess its time to schedule those family pictures

If you are an avid reader of the blog you know that I am a big fan of all of Dr. Laura’s smiles. I had brothers come in late last week and Hunter who visited this week at the studio. Hard to believe – but it wasn’t raining while I photographed them so we were able to get some indoor and outdoor shots.

Hey you… yes, I’m talking to you. Have you called me to set up your appointment for your Christmas Cards? Spots are filling fast and the phone is ringing like crazy at the studio. A couple of quick previews that haven’t made it to my facebook page yet. You know the signature smile, you know the famous orthodontist… braces off since February and check them out!!

And a father-son image from last night’s family session. Thank goodness mom can dance in the background and generate these smiles. Later during the session we had to call in the big guns. Nick’s uncle was called in to help with the smiles.

{I have missed you}

It’s time for the truth. With an over-whelming sense of neglect, I stare at this empty space where I once wrote stories about my pictures and sessions. Most of these entries were done late at night/ early morning at ridiculous times like 2:00 am. Those were followed by early morning sessions and full days. At the beginning of the year I had to reclaim my life, my family and my health. I missed spending time with my family, going to my daughter’s soccer games, having dinner with my husband. I took it all for granted. One of the things my husband and I resolved to do is to run a marathon this year. We started the training in January and we are still training for it. Between January and today, we have run a 5k race, a 5 miler, and a half marathon. I have completed a triathlon and I have had time with my family. All the training makes me tired and I could not keep up with the schedule I was maintaining before. I can hardly stay up past 11 pm. Sadly, the blog has suffered because of it.

I have sat down to write this post many times – always feeling guilty for all the sessions and stories I have missed. The only way I know to get back in the saddle again is start new and start fresh and not forget about all those past sessions, but simply to move on and document those that are happening here and now. As always you can follow me on facebook or twitter. I have continued to post on these sites while I neglected my blog.

Baby Madden, only six days old and pretty determined to stay awake through the entire session. It was one of those sessions where everything that could happen – did. When I was taking this picture I thought it was funny that he was posing and showing me his “guns” . Check out the baby bicep.

And here she is Miss Roxie. I’m not sure if she was super excited to be here or just a happy person in general, but she was a ton of fun to photograph. Doesn’t that smile have the Dr. Morgan signature all over it. Dr. Laura does good work!!

It’s been a while, and I have missed it.

{Summertime}

Hope everyone is staying cool and safe this summer. I had a small struggle with heat exhaustion myself for a week and it was pretty zapping. It’s the public service announcement you keep hearing – DRINK LOTS OF WATER. Here are some of the previews from the past week.

First – two previews from Dr. Morgan’s office. You know the story, braces off, Marie Q session to celebrate the exciting occasion.

Then a couple of babies. First a newborn whose been given the nickname of blue. No doubt that his mother is 100% completely in love with her new baby boy!

Holy Moley – those are big.. might need to come back and fix that later.

Baby Kate with the sparkly blue eyes. Being in the studio really popped the color!

And finally last week I captured the church service for a quinceanera, also known as a sweet 15. Here are a couple of the beautiful girl who celebrated becoming a woman.

{On a break}

It’s the first of several mini breaks over the course of summer. I am very much past due for one. The studio will be closed Saturday – Tuesday. I am trying to get everything wrapped up before I go, bridal albums, session previews, orders etc. If I owe you something chances are you’ll get it today. One last long night before my break.

Brooke stopped by for her Dr. Morgan mini session yesterday right in the middle of the storm. Thank goodness for the studio. She hopes to be an actress one day and she definitely has the smile to get her there!

This morning I did a bridal session – no sneak peeks for that one until after the ceremony. The groom knows about my blog. Then later I ran back to the studio for a 5 day newborn session. Baby Davis came early and was especially little. I love getting up close to a bay and looking at all the fine detail in a newborn.

Not sure if I’ll have my camera and computer on the trip yet. Part of me needs the break, but the other part remembers the joy in photographing the little things. I’ll decide in the morning.

{Bad Storms}

Those were some pretty bad storms last night. Hopefully all of you made it through them safe and sound.

It’s been a busy week at the studio , starting way back with Sunday. I normally don’t photograph sessions on Sundays, but I had to make an exception for this special couple. I had tried to photograph them way back in the spring, but bad weather and a twisted ankle prevented us from getting the job done then – so we finally had a good day. This was as at the end of their session and Lisa and Scott were having fun fun

I had another happy patient from Dr. Morgan stop by. Alexis is such a “fresh” young girl with a great smile to match!

And now that senior session has wrapped up, I have more room for my favorite – BABIES!! Lane made the drive from Dallas for the great window light in my studio. It is the most awesome light I have seen around. I walk into other places and compare, but the studio always wins!

And finally, Miss Avery. There is no doubt she loves her new baby brother. Her charm and personality reminds me so much of my own daughter. She is her own little beauty.
