I remember the day Amy called me… I was sitting at home working in the kitchen when my cell phone rang.  I looked down at the number and about 40 numbers appeared as the incoming call number.  I answered the phone reluctantly thinking it was going to be some marketing company.  I probably didn’t answer the phone with my most friendly voice.  To my surprise, a sweet voice is on the phone and she is apologizing for calling late and calling on my cell phone.  She explained she was calling from London and that she was planning a wedding in Waxahachie (in my head I’m wondering WHY??).  Still unsure of the date, she rattled off a couple of dates to check my availability. I felt immediately embarrassed for answering the phone the way I did.

Over the next couple of months I’ve gotten to know Amy and I’ve heard all about this person on the other side of the world… Simon.  I was so happy to meet him and I’m sad to say, he was not so happy to meet me.  Simon doesn’t like to be photographed.  I know he laughed a couple of times and I know it wasn’t so bad.  I hope he’ll tolerate me as well on his wedding day!

Third time is a charm for this little fellow.  He came in with his older brother and sister for a special session. I love that you can see so much of his personality already.

First a quick note to say thanks to all of you who have sent sweet notes and messages about my back.  A trip to the ER and one doctor later it looks like I am suffering from sciatica.  The good news is I am feeling better.

I met Chassler and Claude at Las Colinas on Saturday.  I didn’t prepare them for the sight they might see when I arrived.  As the session progressed I felt my back hunching more and more and then I had to say something.  Fortunately they were not too embarrassed to be seen with me.  I was looking pretty old and decrepit.

As I was walking around with them, I instructed them on things to do.  Claude looks over at me and says, “I’ve become that man.  That guy who poses for those cheesy pictures.”  I’ll be meeting them again for their casual engagement shoot soon so we can take more pictures with LESS cheese.

The wedding day was just as I imagined it. A little crazy because of the Big Texas-OU game. The weather was perfectly pleasant.  The site was decorated to the nines. Take a look at all the attention to the details – it was truly a storybook wedding.  Candles and flowers were everywhere.  The ceremony started off with laughter when Chelsea forgot to walk down the aisle with her dad.  A voice from the back of the long hallway that she walked down yelled, “Chelsea honey! Did you forgot something?” .  Chelsea ran down the aisle and met her dad in the hallway.  After the unity candle lighting, Chelsea and Ronnie “shared their light” with everyone in the room.  Chelsea and Ronny began by lighting their parents candles and then they passed it around the room. Each guest held a lit candle.  The room glowed with beauty, pictures just can’t do it justice.

The reception was very simply put… A PARTY!!!  There was plenty of laughter and we all shed a few tears when her father made a very heartfelt and emotional toast.  You know its going to be a fun reception when the bride has her own dance named after her.  They announced an after-party on the hotel terrace and I stayed for a few.  I was already sworn to secrecy for many of the events that happened that night.  But whatever happened at the after-party..I imagine is staying at the after-party.

Chelsea is lucky to have access to the old Mason’s Lodge that is a hidden gem.  I can’t wait to go back and take her bridals there.

It’s been a busy week at the studio , starting way back with Sunday.   I normally don’t photograph sessions on Sundays, but I had to make an exception for this special couple.  I had tried to photograph them way back in the spring, but bad weather and a twisted ankle prevented us from getting the job done then – so we finally had a good day. This was as at the end of their session and Lisa and Scott were having fun fun 

I had another happy patient from Dr. Morgan stop by.  Alexis is such a “fresh” young girl with a great smile to match!

And now that senior session has wrapped up, I have more room for my favorite – BABIES!!  Lane made the drive from Dallas for the great window light in my studio.  It is the most awesome light I have seen around.  I walk into other places and compare, but the studio always wins!

And finally,  Miss Avery.  There is no doubt she loves her new baby brother.  Her charm and personality reminds me so much of my own daughter.  She is her own little beauty.

So all of us are arranging our schedules around tonight’s debates, watching our money tank in the stock market, wondering what is going to happen tomorrow?  And somewhere in Greenville, a wife is missing her husband.  He was deployed on Tuesday. 

Megan and Jordan – I’m thinking about you all tonight.  Thank you for all you do, for everything you have given up.  My family appreciates you!

They are an endearing couple.  Megan with her million dollar smile and sparkling eyes and Jordan with his All-American good looks.  Of course what I post is just a teaser. But trust me..they are looking pretty darn good in their pictures!!

I started off photographing a couple and a mother this morning.  The air was still crisp the light was just perfect and the company was fantastic!

Then later, the most famous baby in Waxahachie came to visit me.  We’ve been talking about these six month portraits since he was six days old.  We had to wait until he was 7 months for him to sit up… but it was worth it! Such a big boy!

And finally, birthday girl Ryann came in.  You can tell by that dazzling smile she is one of Dr. Morgan’s patients.  I’m so envious of her pearly whites!!

In between shoots, my daughter and husband stopped by.  Madeleine came in her leotard ready to play hard at the studio.  We were testing out my new lights and she was dancing and jumping around and even got Hector involved.  We were all laughing and having fun when Madeleine noticed people at the window.  She opened the door and greeted them in her leotard.  Turns out it was a May 2009 bride and her mom.  They came in and guess what…  my May calendar for 2009 weddings is now booked! So take a look at what we were doing and what Madeleine looked like. I told her she would get  $1 commission for the new business.  She was ecstatic.

She is going to kill me when she gets older. Be Good!  Have a great weekend.
