{A Garden Wedding}

There are times when even I am left without words, and today is one of them.  This is the most fantastic back yard wedding I have ever been a part of.  Calling it a back yard lessens the thought and care that has gone into planning the event.  This was a garden, a venue, a gathering place, and a home.  The care and detail that went into every placement, every plant, every color and every light is something only a dear family friend could do.  The personal touches were everywhere.

Besides the awesome location, the people there were kind in a way that I have never experienced. The bride and groom, the family, the guests, the caterer, the crew.. EVERYONE was a joy and genuinely happy to be part of this magnificent event.

To Paige and Steven, your familes, Emily and Ray - thank you so much for your kindness, hospitality and candor.  The three of us had a wonderful time. And to a cetain Ms. Peggy in a place very far away known as Paris, France (yes you… I know you are reading!).  Thank you, because of you I was asked to photograph this gorgeous event.

Congratulations Paige and Steve! Just press play.

{Is it Friday?}

That phrase really means nothing to me, but I hear it everyday from my husband.  It’s suppose to signal the end of a busy week - yet Friday means things are just ramping up to be busier than all the other days.  It was a busy Thursday at Marie Q.  Three babies and three seniors, and a late night viewing session means a post at midnight…..eeeek.

I have to post this one of John for the simple reason that he looks like he is winking at me.  It made me laugh when I looked at him.

Then cousins, Olivia and Isabella came in in matching Halloween outfits.  We tried and tried to get the two girls together but in the end I think we got two great individual shots.

And finally my three senior girls - all friends from Midlothian.  With my assistant Jenny’s help, we were able to capture some awesome photos.

Thanks to Audrey, Lindsay, and Amy for playing along with us.  We had just as much fun as you did!

Be Good!

{Fall?}

I was outside earlier today breaking a sweat.  I thought summer was officially over.  Courtney Keen-Flores, Waxahachie’s most talented florist , brought her son in today for his first shoot with me.  I’m sure he was super excited about going to the photographers.  So much so, that when he arrived - he was completely passed out.  We explored a little outside, hence the sweating by everyone involved.  Poor guy was wearing his finest fall clothes on a day that felt like the middle of summer.  He is a little charmer!

This was him playing with some different looks.  Here he was practicing his scared look.  I personally think he could be Life cereal’s next Mikey.

Later in the evening and once it was cooler, Taylor had her senior session.  She had two fantastic dresses to model.  We scoured downtown for some interesting spots.  We hit a couple of new ones, a couple of old ones, and took some inside.  She is going to have a lot to choose from.

{Still recovering}

Is it me or has allergy season just hit?  Every time I went out today I thought my nose and throat were fighting with the pollen in the air.

My first session today was a maternity session with Veronica.  She drove all the way out from Terrell for me to do her photos.  You won’t believe this, but she is due in a month.  She is super tiny.  I could completely relate to her because she was out of her element taking pictures - add to that, they were belly pictures.  I tried to keep it as natural as possible.  I’m always amazed at how women can embrace pregnancy.  I felt like I hid behind a curtain for two years when I was pregnant.  And looking back, if I had done it then, I probably would have done it exactly like Veronica.  I would have found someone far away with little chance of running into anyone.  Thanks for being brave Veronica!  Your pictures came out great!

I did a shoot for Living Magazine and then later did a Midlothian Senior session.  Stealing a line from my seven year old daughter, Audrey has eyes that just twinkle.  My daughter asked me if I added the twinkles.  I can tell you - those twinkles are Audrey’s.

Audrey - I tagged your photos in facebook.  Go add me as a friend to get your photos.

{Recovering}

I don’t even know how to put into words the roller coaster that describes last week.  It was full of many highs and a couple of very low lows.  My daughter became extremely ill over the period of two days and like most resilient kids… just bounced back.  That in turn put me behind during one of the busiest weeks in the studio’s history.

First a preview from Thursday.  I was so lucky to get this shot of the triplets.  It is their very best “sisters” photo.

After I wrapped up with their session - the countdown began.  This was the weekend of the open gallery and besides having company, preparing for the party,  doing catch up work and just life in general, we also had the bridal show to prepare for.  Albums were coming in at the last minute and I was tracking missing mats. Christi, my right hand, my friend, my angel, helped me with the clean up - it would have taken me forever alone.  Plus I’m allergic to cleaning.

The party was fun, and it was so nice to see everyone.  We had between 100-150 guests show up over the period of a few hours.  Hector, my husband, along with the help of my family cooked and arranged all the food for the event.  Everyone has been asking for recipes - so I guess the food was a hit!  It’s hard to believe that I have been at the studio for one year - thanks for keepingit alive!!

Then off to Sunday.  It was time for the bridal show.  Hector, Christi packed it up and set up while I stayed at the studio to do some last minute preparations.  Finally - I was ready.  We set up the booth and met with brides from all over Ellis County and beyond.

and a rare picture of Hector and I.

And today, what is typically my day off, has been spent catching up on everything.  Errands, proofing, designing, ordering.  I made up a session today from last week.  One year old Bennett had a photo session.  He had so many happy shots.  He is one of those that just beams.

Thanks to everyone for attending the party, for being pateient with me last week when it got really crazy.  Thanks to Hector, Christi, my family, and my favorite album company - who all went above and beyond the call of duty to help me.  You all are the best!!

{Hollywood}

DJ and Brock, The Hollywood brothers, came to my studio with their mom and their Aunt Lulu also known as the Border sisters.  Growing up, my favorite relatives were the ones that laughed a lot.  I can’t remember what we laughed about - but we did. I think this family has a healthy dose of laughter in their lives.

So here they are the Hollywood brothers. I love thier name - it’s meant to be in print somewhere.

 I don’t think I could have captured this any differently.  You really get to see how Brock looks up to his big brother DJ.

And you know momma has a good sense of humor when she dresses her son in a “Momma Tried” shirt.  I love it!
