{Off to Sea World}

I am off to Sea World for a brief 24 hour trip (CRAZY I know).  But before I go I wanted to post some previews from my two sessions today.  I just loved being behind the camera today!!  I’ll write more when I come back.

Have a safe Holiday Weekend.  Be Good!

{I’m having a party!!}

I think I am going to make this an annual thing!!  I love opening up the studio and gallery and inviting all of my family and friends!!  Last year it was a Grand Opening.  If you haven’t seen it since last year, or you have never been in - September 20th is the day to stop by.  We are inviting everyone we know - bring your friends.  I’ll be showing some of my best work, sharing some stories, unveiling the new Marie Q Wedding Website, and giving a facelift to current sites.  And the best part… food and drinks.  It is one of the few times I get to have a drink with my friends at the studio!! Some invites are going out next week, I’ll be sending out e-mails, and it will be published in Living Magazine.  If I don’t get to invite you in person - trust me, I want you there!

Mark your calendars.  I’ll have a glass waiting for you ;)

{THE Marie Q Kids}

Every once in a while I have to have do a shoot just for me.  We have been waiting patiently for this old truck to come home from the mechanic.  It’s a long story explaining why we have it - and I will spare you the details.  I knew when it was making the trip on a flat baed from Mississippi to Texas that it would be used in photo shoots (at the very least one).

So these are THE Marie Q Kids. From left to right.  Connor is the driver, William, Madeleine and Denton on the end.  The twins, Connor and William couldn’t be more different when it comes to photographing them.

Denton decided it was time to play hard and he ran around and worked up a sweat.. but not to worry - he can still pull off the GQ look.  What a change I have seen in him this summer.  This is no longer a little boy.. he truly has grown into the name my husband gave him.  He is a “Little Man”.

And finally Madeleine.  I spent an entire 30 seconds photographing her alone tonight.  Why so little time??  Because in 30 seconds she gave me about 12 different poses.  We must stop watching America’s Next Top Model Marathons… she just gets too much material from them.

Denton gave her a nickname tonight… and I thought it was pretty funny.  He called Madeleine a “Want Monster” because she wants everything.  Why didn’t I think of that?

Be Good!!

Friday Morning Note:  So I went to sleep after posting this and had e-mails in the morning regarding “my” kids.  I love them all like they are my own, but only Madeleine is truly mine.  Denton is the son of Floyd and Carolyn Ross.  The twins, Connor and William, belong to Patrick and Christi Davidson.  I have my hands full with Madeleine!

{Samantha - 2 years old}

When I think of Samantha I think CUPCAKES!!  Why, you may ask?? Because since I have known her her family has sung her the cuppycake song.  If you haven’t heard it or even better seen it click here to see the youtube video.

Samantha knows I am the lady with the camera.  She figured it out a long time ago.  Her look is chin to the chest eyes to her feet.  For her one year session, I don’t think I ever saw the whites of her eyes.  The first image is very typical of the way I capture her.  The second shot…. so that is what her eyes look like.

Be good!

{Baby Sheridan- 10 days old}

I drove out to Dallas to photograph this special little newborn today.  I am not used to driving in Dallas anymore.  I forget the traffic, the challenges with construction.  I felt like I was driving in circles for most of the day. When I finally arrived to the street she lived on I was busy looking for street numbers and I should have guessed it but I drove right past it.  There was a giant stork in the front yard announcing her arrival and about 20 cars lining the street (well maybe not 20 - but at least 5).

Sheridan’s mom was a collector of cowboy boots and had them in every cool color imaginable.  We tried to get Sheridan to fit in the pink one, but she just didn’t fit anymore. Her room was filled with all the colors of a children’s book.  Giant giraffes adorned the room.  She defintely won the award for most uniqely decorated.  I hope one day she can appreciate all the detail that went into her room.

If I were to guess the lighting in this picture I would have guessed studio lights.  This was natural light coming from a skylight that set up this dramatic shot in dad’s arms.  I have no doubts that this little one is a miracle and a blessing.

Sweet dreams Baby Sheridan!

Be Good!

{Riley}

This is my second session where a boy has brought his stuffed animal.. in Riley’s case, his animals.  In both cases I feel it in my heart.  These boys are going to change this year, and their favorite bears will be left behind in a corner of a closet as each of them enters a new chapter of boyhood.

Riley definitely had his own ideas of what to do with his favorite things!

Be Good!
