With permission from the Gritsavage Family, I am writing about a maternity session I did yesterday for Now I lay Me Down to Sleep. Angela contacted me last week about photographing a maternity session for her family consisting of her husband Ed, and Elijah and Josiah, her two sons. She is expecting Levi, her third son, who has a severe case of Trisomy X and if born alive, is expected to live less then 24 hours.
I write this to share with all of you the wonderful group that Now I lay Me Down to Sleep is and to grow this program here in Waxahachie. The group has had national air time on the Morning Shows, had numerous articles written in newspapers all across the US. Photographers across the nation are volunteering their time to photograph these families for both maternity and hospital sessions. If you, a family member, or friend find yourself in a situation where you would like to utilize the group, you can visit the website and find your closest photographer. The session includes a CD with images at no charge to the family.
I am sad that I had to meet Angela and Ed under these circumstances, but I am very happy that I was able to do this for them. Sometimes it’s best to let the images speak for themselves. Just beautiful all around - inside and out.

Thank you for allowing me the privilege of photographing your family.
God Bless
This session was full of laughter, jokes, and true affection. My daughter loves this guy and I can see how any girl would love to have him as a daddy. I didn’t have to work at all to see the bond and connection these two have. I was able to steal Alex for a few individual shots. Every girl her age deserves to have some beautiful images of herself. the second is one that I absolutely love. They giggled every time they looked at each other.

Be Good!
Today I had the pleasure of photographing Kevin Jr. , the son of Kevin and Jennifer McDonnell. I cornered her when the baby was only three days old and MADE her come see me today. It helps that they live right down the street
I have been waiting to use this antique dough bowl that I got from Cindy Burch at the Dove’s Nest a couple of weeks ago. And today I was able to play a little with it.
He slept perfectly through the end of the session and I was able to do just about whatever I wanted.

Then a picture of him sleeping soundly on a blanket a family member made for him. It is always an excellent idea to bring some of these hand made treasures along with you. This gives your images a unique look that no other baby will have…. One of a kind.

Come back later for more previews from my late session! Be Good.
I’m not complaining… well, maybe a little. This week has been CRAZY busy!! I’m one of those wacky people who believe in signs, and karma, and you do good things and good things come back to you.
Well the other day, I was meeting Dr. Peggy at 7 AM for her boys session. I was driving to the studio down beautiful Main Street (I love that street). I was enjoying the scenery when something caught my eye. I had wished that my camera wasn’t in the trunk - but it’s me we are talking about- so it was. I look over to the left (remember it’s about 6:30 am), and I see a man cutting his grass WITH HIS SPRINKLERS ON. I almost stopped the car to unpack the camera (I wish I would have - at least I would have had a photo to go with the story). I should have recognized it as a sign of the crazy week that was coming up. Fortunately, the week is almost over.
Dr. Morgan sent another patient to me today. Lucky girl got her braces off! We stepped outside for just a few minutes (I didn’t want to melt).

I had a newborn viewing session today and I showed this image (one of my faves) horizontally… and I was just thinking…. I like this better vertically. hmmmmmmm.

Bear with me here as this will be a long post covering yesterdays sessions and this mornings. I am going to start with my first session on Wednesday. Kenna traveled from Plano for her one year old session. She was a cute little thing with a mischievous smile. Unlike many one year olds she did look directly at me and like most one year olds I have many images of her walking away.

Then later in the day I met again with Morgan Grand kids. Maybe you remember my story of the city wide hunt for bluebonnets and a looming black cloud over our location for our shoot. Needless to say the bluebonnets were just not out and the black rain cloud did not make for appealing pictures. So I took them out to my favorite field, and I should start adding, my favorite ITCHY field. When the itching became to much we packed up and went to the park. the second image reminds me of something out of a fairy tale. We are missing one grand kid in the picture, but it is still one of my favorites.

And finally today…. I was supposed to photograph the Barron family last year during the holiday rush. We didn’t make it then but I am so glad they came back. I had a great “non-traditional” family session with them. And all of you know already, nothing makes me happier than getting out of my box.

One more session to go today, and that one doesn’t get posted. I’ll be back tomorrow!
Be Good!
I left my card with images at the studio. Come back in the morning for Wednesday’s previews. I have a 7:30 am session - I will post shortly after.
Sorry
